sab123Нынче в прессе радости, что вот, в 4-м квартале рост ВНП на 3 с лишним процента. А теперь берем и читаем, что было в 1999 году:

In the second quarter, real GDP increased 1.9 percent.
3-й квартал 1999 года - это когда все только-только началось сыпаться по углам, а в общем все воспринималось как продолжение бурного роста. До больших компаний, про сокращения в которых пишут сейчас, тогда сыпанье еще не дошло.
